1. Who we are

In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" means the provider of the Apostle companion app. "You" means the person using the app.

2. What the app is for

The Apostle companion app is a digital play aid for the Apostle tabletop roleplaying game.

It lets you create and manage games, record game names, create or manage Apostle-related content, and use tools such as maps, dials, clocks, dice, or other game-support features.

The app is intended as a companion tool. It is not guaranteed to replicate the printed rules, play sheets, or other Apostle materials.

3. Accounts

You may need to create an account to use some or all of the app.

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account unless caused by our failure to take reasonable care.

You must tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.

4. Age and eligibility

You must be old enough to use the app under the laws that apply to you.

If you are under the age required to create an account or consent to online services in your location, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

We may restrict, suspend, or remove access where we reasonably believe an account has been created by someone who is not eligible to use the app.

5. Your content

You may enter names, game notes, character information, map content, and other game-related material into the app.

You remain responsible for the content you enter.

You must not upload, enter, or share content that:

• is unlawful
• infringes someone else's rights
• contains personal data about another person without a lawful reason
• is abusive, threatening, harassing, hateful, or discriminatory
• impersonates another person or misrepresents your identity
• is designed to disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or misuse the app

We may remove or restrict access to content where we reasonably believe these Terms, creates legal risk, creates security risk, or harms the service or other users.

6. Licence to use your content

You keep ownership of the content you enter into the app.

You give us permission to store, process, display, back up, and transmit your content as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the app.

This permission is limited to operating the app and related services. We do not claim ownership of your game content.

7. Apostle intellectual property

Apostle, its rules, setting, text, design, names, logos, layout, artwork, trade dress, and related materials are owned by us or licensed to us unless stated otherwise.

You may use the app for personal play, private game management, and normal tabletop roleplaying activity.

You must not copy, reproduce, publish, sell, commercially exploit, create competing products from the app or Apostle materials without written permission, except where allowed by law or by a separate licence we provide.

8. Acceptable use

You must use the app lawfully and responsibly.

You must not:

• attempt to access accounts, games, data, systems, or areas you are not authorised to access
• interfere with the app's security or operation
• probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities without permission
• use automated tools to scrape, copy, overload, or extract data from the app
• use the app to send spam or unwanted messages
• bypass access controls or usage limits
• reverse engineer the app except where allowed by law
• use the app in a way that harms us, other users, or the service

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the app available and working, but we do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

The app may be changed, updated, suspended, or withdrawn. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed.

We need to carry out maintenance, fix bugs, improve security, respond to technical issues, or make changes to the way the app works.

Where practical, we will try to avoid unnecessary disruption.

10. Backups and data loss

We use reasonable technical measures to protect and back up your app data, but you should not rely on the app as the only copy of important game material.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of content that is important to you.

We are not responsible for loss of your content unless caused by our failure to take reasonable care and the loss occurs as a result.

11. Third-party services

The app may rely on third-party services for hosting, authentication, database storage, email delivery, analytics, security, or other operational functions.

We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but we will take reasonable care when selecting service providers that process data or support the app.

The app may also include links to third-party websites or services. These are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

12. No professional advice

The app and Apostle materials are provided for entertainment, creative, and gameplay purposes.

Nothing in the app is intended as legal, financial, medical, religious, psychological, or other professional advice.

13. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Subject to that, the app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, losses, lost profits, loss of goodwill, or loss of data where you have failed to keep your own backup copy.

If the app is provided free of charge, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

14. Ending your use of the app

You may stop using the app at any time.

We may ask you to close your account or restrict access if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, create risk for the service, or if we reasonably need to do so for legal, security, or operational reasons.

When your account is closed, we may delete or restrict access to your app data, subject to any legal, security, or record-keeping requirements.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to let users know, such as by updating the app, posting a notice, or emailing registered users.

The updated Terms will apply from the date they are published or from another stated date in these Terms.

If you continue using the app after these Terms change, you agree to the updated Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Isle of Man, unless another law must apply because of where you live.

The courts of the Isle of Man will have jurisdiction, except where consumer protection laws give you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
